A CONSORTIUM OF COMPLEMENTARY EXPERTISE

Many companies rely on the performance of joining and inspection technologies – not just the process, but also the performance of the resulting products or structures. As such, we work with many of the biggest names in global industry, and supporting functions:

Established in Cambridge, UK in 1946 and with several facilities across the globe, TW (www.twi- lobal.com) is one of Europe’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, employing 740 scientists, technologists, administrative and support staff world-wide (540 in the UK and Europe) and with annual (2014) group turnover of £80million (€94million). TWI works across all industry sectors with expertise in key aspects of materials, materials joining, structural integrity, static and dynamic testing and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and has representation on over 100 standards committees.

The majority of TWI’s activities (65%) are contract research, funded by industry and built around the development of advanced technologies. TWI is also an active participant in collaborative research programmes in Europe and the UK. TWI has been involved in over 90 European framework projects and have acted as consortium/project or technical project leader on at least half the number of occasions from Framework 5 and onwards through to H2020.

Ventil was founded over fifty years ago, initially distributing globe and butterfly valves. As heavy industry in the Netherlands boomed, so Ventil's range grew to encompass all valve types and it also earned a reputation for quick deliveries and tailor-made packages. To prove the integrity of all modified valves leaving its in-house valve assembly shop, Ventil fabricated its own test bench in the mid 1970s. This equipment sparked such a level of interest from visiting customers that a new company, Ventil Valve Services, was founded to produce high quality test equipment for valves, safety valves and control valves. In early 2000 Ventil's valve and actuator activities were acquired by FCX International, enabling Ventil Test Equipment to fully focus on its core activities. Significant investments soon followed in machining, engineering and process automation capacity. However, the "hands on" expertise with valves and valve applications gained over the past fifty years continues to be a major asset in the design of valve test benches.

Ventil is a mid-size company active in an explicit niche of valve repair and testing. Ventil is a ‘true manufacturer’; Ventil designs, develops, but also has all ‘in-house’ disciplines to manufacture the Ventil machines and equipment.
